I’m here for my weekly word count update . . . My total work count is now 6,888 words! Last Friday we were at 3,341 so that’s a 3,547 word increase. With two kids at home full time, I’m happy enough with that progress. Also, chapters 1 and 2 are done! (I mean, as done as they are going to be for this rough draft.)
And here’s the time allocation it took me to achieve that progress.
I’m impressed I was able to fit in 9.5 hours of work this week, though I’ll admit those two hours of daytime “writing” on Monday was accomplished at the beach and I was less than productive. Like, I think I wrote 200 words in 2 hours. Partially because I had to keep an eagle eye on the kids (they were playing in the sand, not the water, but still, can’t be too careful), and partially because SEE THE LINE WHERE THE SKY MEETS THE SEA, IT CAAAAALLS ME.
(There’s this thing that happens to your brain when you become a parent, all you can do is quote kids movies. That’s your life now.)
So anyway, that’s a complicated way of saying the beach was pretty and distracting. But you know what, that’s 200 words I didn’t have before so that’s still progress. BABY STEPS IS STILL PROGRESS FORWARD, YOU GUYS. It adds up! Respect the baby steps!
